So You Want To Build a Wind Turbine
I am glad to be able to tell you that building a wind turbine with the correct instructions is really easy. When I started looking into building my own wind turbine I was worried about how I would connect them to my house or the mains as I’m not an electrician.
I’m happy to say that I found a really good guide that explained everything I needed to know to build my first turbine in a single weekend. My friends and family couldn’t believe I had built it all myself (I’m not that good at building stuff normally), I smiled and explained that it was actually easy 
I didn’t tell them about the guide that had helped me along every step of the way… we will keep that between me and you!

The Materials that you will need?
Its important to get all the materials before you start your build project, last thing you want is to be half way through the build and not have whats needed to finish.
A list of basic materials you will need.
- PVC sheets or plywood
- white glue
- eye screws
- washers
- LED
- 1/4 square dowel
- disk magnets
- magnetic or copper wire
Most of the items can be brought from hardware stores.

How Much Will It Cost To Build Your Own Wind Turbine?
You can build a wind turbine for less than $200 (USD) thats about £130 (GBP), less if you are able to source parts cheaply.
You can use old washing machine motors to reduce costs, if you do not have an old washing machine go to a breakers/scrape yard.
How Hard Is It To Build Your Own Wind Turbine?
Building a wind turbine is not a simple project but the good news is that with the right information anyone can do it (well I managed it and thats somthing in itself!).
If you can follow simple step by step instructions then you can build your own wind turbine. As I mentioned before the instructions are not country specific, so no matter where you are in the world you will be able to create your wind turbine and connect it to your mains power supply.
The Guide That I Used To Build My First Wind Turbine In One Weekend
I used a guide called Windplans, Windplans is more than just a guide it is a system that contains step by step instructions with images and videos that anyone can follow. If you have any problems they have very friendly support staff who are more than happy to help you should need it.
With the aid of the Windplans I got my first wind turbine built in a single weekend. I really liked how it didn’t only tell me what parts I needed but where I could get most of them for free.

I now have two wind turbines and a solar panel (instructions for solar panels are also in the system), I am now at the stage of selling electricity back to the power company making me and my family an addition income stream meaning we can have an extra holiday this year!
